European award: report on working groups

In its efforts to secure the EU's "HR Excellence in Research" award, part of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R),* the Human Resources Department set up eight working groups from June 16 to July 7 to explore the four main areas covered by the award (ethical aspects, recruitment, working conditions and training). More than a hundred scientific and support staff were given the opportunity to share their thoughts and suggestions for improvement on these topics.

The Human Resources Department would like to thank the participants in these working groups, whose contributions resulted in several recommendations regarding the principles upheld by the award. The project team will examine all these suggestions for improvement with the aim of drawing up an action plan by the end of the year.

*The Institut Pasteur is committed to securing the European "HR Excellence in Research" award, as laid down in its Strategic Plan. The award is given to research institutes that apply the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

The Charter and Code lay down the roles, responsibilities and rights of researchers and their employers, based on four areas: ethical and professional aspects; recruitment and selection; working conditions and social security; and training and career development.
