Pasteur-Paris University International Doctoral Program: new call for proposals in 2019

The Pasteur - Paris University International Doctoral Program (PPU) attracts outstanding international students, most of who are in the top 5-10% of their classes in their home countries.

The next call for the recruitment of PPU students for October 2020 is open.

If you are interested in the recruitment of a student for October 2020, you are invited to go to the link and follow the instructions to propose a thesis project.

The link is open from now through September 2th 2019. First come, first served: the sooner we receive the form, the closer to the top of the website list it will appear!

The call for the candidates will be open from September 16th until November 1st  2019, with the listing of available projects and laboratories on the PPU website.

This doctoral program is for students who have obtained or will obtain the Master’s degree or equivalent in a foreign University. The eligibility criteria do not exclude a student internship period in France (less of 1 year!), including at the Institut Pasteur.

The call is also opened via the INCEPTION program in the following fields:

  • Phylodynamics;

  • Sequence analysis;

  • Metagenomics;

  • Systems biology;

  • Deep learning;

  • Databases;

  • Precision medicine.

Please indicate if your project is in Inception area of interest in the appropriate box on the platform (sponsor). The candidates for INCEPTION will be selected according the same rules as the PPU candidates, with special focus on candidates with interdisciplinarity background on INCEPTION fields of interest, and on emerging diseases. A co-supervision will be required.

The host lab must be affiliated with a Doctoral School of the Sorbonne Université, Université de Paris, ou Université Paris Sud (Paris11). Each scientist with an HDR (and the approval of the unité director) may propose a project for a PPU student. A scientist who is in the process of obtaining his or her HDR may serve as co-advisor. The PPU program follows the rules of the universities concerning the number of students per HDR.

Teams that have already chosen a candidate must still submit a project indicating their desire to recruit a student into the program. Later they will receive further instructions to avoid to receive additional applications.

Units with “installation packages” (but not the G5s) will have to fund the 3 years of the student salary with their packages.

Scientists who have successfully recruited a student for the PPU, PPU-EMHE, PPU-CNBG program in the 2 previous calls cannot submit an application this year.

This year we propose again a call for the PPU-CNBG program. CNBG (the biggest pharmaceutical company in China) will select for us few candidates. Then the selection will be completed by videoconferences and 2 students will be accepted. Even though the PPU-CNBG call starts in February 2020, after the PPU call, you will be asked in September to confirm your participation in the PPU-CNBG call as well.

The PPU-CNBG students participate to all the activities proposed by the PPU program, but they will be employees by CNBG.
