JO2024

Fancy a sporting challenge this summer?

We would remind you that the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR/RSE) Department, in collaboration with the Occupational Health and Prevention Department and the Real Estate and Technical Department, is proposing a summer sports challenge for staff by asking people to take the stairs rather than the elevator. This is an easy way to do some sport – it's good for you and good for the environment.

The original idea was presented at the 2022 Sustainable Development Challenge by Alexis Matamoro-Vidal for the Green DSCB initiative and applied to campus for the first time through Vir’OVert (Department of Virology's environmental strategy) via a temporary operation in the Lwoff building in May 2023.

Since 20 July, new signs have been installed in the stairwells of two pilot buildings for the scheme: the Metchnikoff building and the Yersin building in the OMICS facility. You will be encouraged to take the stairs and enjoy all the benefits you can gain by not taking the elevator – developing your balance, burning calories, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and saving energy.

So come on, take the stairs rather than the elevator if you can – and why not turn this summer challenge into a year-round habit
