New features to the computer application for managing permissions at the Institut Pasteur

As part of the ongoing process to introduce an online system for requests to access containment laboratories (requests are made via the application for managing permissions at the Institut Pasteur, known as GAIP), the Information Systems Department and the Risk Prevention Department in the Technical Resources and Environment Department will be launching four new forms on June 17:

  • a form to request permission to handle ionizing radiation sources (non-sealed/sealed sources)

  • a form to request permission to handle X-ray generators

  • a form to request permission to handle uranium salts

  • a form to request permission to handle blood

Any new requests will be processed and the various stages will be validated via the service portal, under "Mes locaux: Demander une autorisation d'accès" (My premises: Request access permission).

Handling ionizing radiation sources

For staff members who currently hold a valid authorization to handle X-ray generators or non-sealed (liquid) sources, this authorization will remain valid until the next three-yearly renewal period.

For any new requests, occupational risk training modules (general, chemical and biological risks and risks associated with handling ionizing radiation sources) must be completed, and each training course must be validated (all risk training courses are valid for five years apart from the radiation protection course, which must be renewed every three years).

Handling blood and human derivatives (serum, plasma, platelets, etc.)

Units that are currently authorized to handle blood will keep their authorization number until the next four-yearly renewal period.

Requests to handle blood must be made by the line manager of the unit and must be renewed if there is a change in premises or if new handlers are added to an existing authorization number.

All handlers must complete occupational risk training modules (general, chemical and biological risks). All training courses must be validated (validation to be renewed every five years).
