Pasteur Network – Climate & Health Convening event at Dakar

Last week, was held in Dakar the Pasteur Network conference on climate and health – a major event that officially launched the acceleration program of the Pasteur Network's Climate and Health Observatory. As Yasmine Belkaid, President of the Institut Pasteur in Paris, explained to the many prestigious attendees at the event, "our strategy is to address the critical link between climate change and health. The aim of this innovative initiative is to encourage collaboration and stimulate research in this vital field."

The program, supported by The Rockefeller Foundation and HKJC's Institute of Philanthropy, includes three key components:

1. A grant program: designed for Pasteur Network member institutes in low- and middle-income countries, this program will provide researchers and scientists with the resources and support they need to advance their research at the intersection of climate and health.

2. An internal communication platform, aimed at improving internal communications and facilitating information exchanges, collaborative research and strategic planning between Pasteur Network members.

3. Support for exemplary members: exemplary members of the Pasteur Network that achieve significant progress in the field of climate and health will be identified and supported so that they can share their successful projects and initiatives with their regions, encouraging a knock-on effect in terms of innovation and impact.

The initiative emphasizes a determination to draw on the strengths and assets of the Pasteur Network to rise to one of the most urgent challenges of our time.

Last week was also an opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Institut Pasteur de Dakar and make the most of this historic milestone to strengthen links within the Pasteur Network and look back on a century of scientific excellence and collaboration.
