Appointment of distinguished professors; CFO award

  •  Appointment of distinguished professors

Following the opinion of the Scientific Council, the Board of Governors appointed three distinguished professors (professeurs de classe exceptionnelle) at its meeting on April 19, on the basis of proposals from the management team:

•  Jean-Christophe Olivo-Marin, Head of the Biological Image Analysis Unit

Arnaud Fontanet, Head of the Epidemiology of Emerging Diseases Research and Expertise Unit

Shahragim Tajbakhsh, Head of the Stem Cells and Development Unit

  • Françoise Perriolat, Vice-President Financial Affairs at the Institut Pasteur, winner of the second edition of the Public Service CFO Award

On June 8, the 19th edition of the French National Conference for Public Services, an annual event run by the National Association for Financial and Management Control Directors (DFCG), was held at the headquarters of the French National Accounting Office.

This latest half-day event, opened by Pierre Moscovici, First President of the National Accounting Office, featured testimonials from chief financial officers in public organizations, institutions and private companies about their experience. The theme of this year's event was "Public sector CFOs: acting in an uncertain world," and issues explored included involvement in crisis management, directing priorities and implementing transformation projects in a context characterized by geopolitical risks, climate issues, economic fragility, political instability and health risks, which are increasingly disrupting the operation of public services.

The event also included the award ceremony for the second edition of the Public Service CFO Award. This award goes to the CFO of a central government agency, public body, local authority or, in the case of the Institut Pasteur, a private organization working for the common good, in recognition of the relevance of the management methods employed and the results obtained. It also highlights the CFO's dynamic, innovative initiatives in implementing modern, effective management concepts and tools, and his or her expertise in relation with a specific financial project or for the organization as a whole.

This year, the first time that the Institut Pasteur had put itself forward for the award, Françoise Perriolat, the Institut Pasteur's Vice-President Financial Affairs, was chosen as the winner following her presentation to a panel in May on the topic "Strengthening investment planning in technology and real estate," a subject directly linked to strategic issues such as competitiveness and reputation, and closely related to the question of research funding. Françoise Perriolat also took the opportunity of her presentation to emphasize the importance of taking sustainable development issues into consideration in investment projects.

On June 8, she received the special prize for her "Investment planning" project. This award reflects the commitment and expertise of all the teams in the Financial Affairs Department, together with all the teams (the Department of Technology, the Information Systems Department and the Technical Resources and Environment Department) that have worked together to implement effective, rigorous methods to improve approaches. It also illustrates the collaborative methods at the Institut Pasteur that combine interdisciplinarity, project management, leadership and the "business partner" approach of the Financial Affairs Department.
