Visit by Brigitte Bourguignon to the Institut Pasteur on May 25

The French Minister for Health and Prevention, Brigitte Bourguignon, visited the Institut Pasteur's Laboratory for Urgent Response to Biological Threats (CIBU) on May 25. The Minister was accompanied by the Director-General for Health, Professor Jérôme Salomon, and the Director-General of the Greater Paris Regional Health Agency, Amélie Verdier.

The Chairman of the Board of Governors, Christian Vigouroux, the Senior Executive Vice-President, François Romaneix, and the Vice-President International Affairs, Jennifer Heurley, greeted the delegation on the esplanade in front of the Duclaux building.

The Minister was keen to talk to several Institut Pasteur scientists about monkeypox. Valérie Caro and India Leclercq (Environment and Infectious Risks Research and Expertise Unit), Antoine Gessain (Oncogenic Virus Epidemiology and Pathophysiology Unit) and Olivier Schwartz (Virus and Immunity Unit) answered questions from the delegation members.

As the delegation walked past the temporary exhibition currently on display in the Duclaux building, it was also an opportunity to discuss the events being organized to mark the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur's birth.

The visit was brought to a close with an address to the media by the Minister on the eve of Ascension weekend.
