For the first time, a three-dimensional metagenomics experiment has been carried out on a mouse intestinal microbiota sample. This method quantifies and exploits 3D physical contacts between DNA molecules present in a mix of species, to infer their proximity.

The 2017 edition of the workshop on the latest technological developments in fluorescence microscopy will be held on the Paris campus on March 13-17.

Scientific events

Each month, the Institut Pasteur Scientific Council organizes a lecture by a scientist on campus. This regular event, open to all, is an opportunity to find out how research and knowledge are progressing in a specific field. It is also a way of establishing links between research issues and the broad scientific topics that are explored during the events. These unique lectures are aimed at the entire Institut Pasteur community.

International

Professor Pierre Talbot was appointed director of the INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier Center for a four-year term beginning on 15 February 2017.

Health

The Institut Pasteur is currently concluding a partnership agreement with the Pharmacology and Clinical Research Think Tank for Therapeutic Innovation and Evaluation of Health Technology (known as the Giens Workshops), which organizes two annual events with key academic and private players in clinical research. This partnership will give the Institut Pasteur a say in the topics discussed and the experts invited to the Giens Workshops. The Institut Pasteur will also host the Giens Workshops feedback and discussion day in March.

The HR training center in the Talent and Organization Development Department runs a range of technical training courses on campus.

Health

On Wednesday March 15, routine maintenance will be carried out on all the defibrillators on campus.

Security

As part of the security master plan that is currently being rolled out on campus by the Technical Resources and Environment Department, a new computerized access control system will soon be introduced for the entire Paris campus. The work involved in installing this system will run from March 27 to August 31, 2017.

Life outside the lab

The instrumental ensemble run by La Pasteurale, the Institut Pasteur's cultural society, is inviting staff to come along and watch its musicians rehearsing on Thursday March 16.
