Defending the research ecosystem and actively speaking about it in the press

On Friday March 7, 2025, Stand Up for Science demonstrations were held in several university cities. In Paris, they were attended by more than 5,000 scientists, including dozens of Institut Pasteur staff keen to support the movement and defend academic freedom (see the dedicated article in the newsletter on March 14).

Yasmine Belkaid, President of the Institut Pasteur, also took the opportunity to speak to the press and express her concern at the rise of disinformation and censorship of research topics in America, as well as the constant and growing pressure on scientists, which has serious health implications.
