130TH ANNIVERSARY

"130 Years of Institut Pasteur: Celebrating Science" from May 15 to 17, 2019

Reminder: We would remind you that all Institut Pasteur staff are warmly invited to attend the international scientific conference "130 Years of Institut Pasteur: Celebrating Science", which will take place next week, from May 15 to 17, 2019, on the Paris campus. It will be held in the CIS auditorium, and there will also be a screening in the Émile Duclaux lecture hall.

The conference will be an opportunity to showcase the exciting research currently under way at the Institut Pasteur – the legacy of 130 years of excellence. It will be structured around five broad topics: From molecules to cells; Individuals, populations, the power of modeling; An integrative vision of health and disease; Microbes and hosts; and Translating discoveries from bench to patients.

Further details of the program prepared by the scientific organizing committee can be found here.

Speakers at the event include both early career scientists and experienced researchers from the Institut Pasteur, as well as high-level external experts who have close links with the Institut Pasteur: Yasmine Belkaïd from the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; Michael Hall from the University of Basel, Switzerland; Michel Roschbash from Brandeis University/HHMI, Waltham, United States; and Michel Nussenzweig from The Rockefeller University, New York, United States.

More than 100 research entities based at the Institut Pasteur will present posters showcasing a research finding or theme. Each entity has also prepared an abstract to be included in the conference brochure.

At the event there will be a stand where participants can find out more about the Network of Pasteurians and Institut Pasteur Alumni, a community set up by the Institut Pasteur in 2015 which already has nearly 1,500 members. The alumni community also represents a great opportunity for networking and developing contacts.

The conference is free for Institut Pasteur employees but registration is required.

The journals Microbes and Infections and Genes and Immunity will be jointly publishing a series of articles illustrating the Institut Pasteur's remarkable history and long-standing commitment to scientific excellence and exploring some of the research topics discussed at the conference.

We hope that lots of you will come along to this conference, which is set to be a real "celebration of science". As well as an opportunity to reflect together on the Institut Pasteur's major scientific discoveries, the conference will be a festive occasion, with a cocktail reception on May 15 accompanied by music and singing from three jazz and rock groups based on the Institut Pasteur campus, to which you are all cordially invited.
