Conference on "Genetic Admixture: Inference and Evolutionary Consequences" on May 30 and 31 at the Collège de France

In his capacity as Professor at the Collège de France for the "Human Genomics and Evolution" Chair, Lluis Quintana-Murci, who is also Head of the Human Evolutionary Genetics Unit at the Institut Pasteur, organizes a conference on May 30 and 31 on the topic "Genetic Admixture: Inference and Evolutionary Consequences," alongside the scientific committee for the event, composed of Etienne Patin and Fernando Racimo.

The conference, which will be in English, will use theoretical models and empirical data to explore the extent of admixture in humans and other species. The aim will be to see how admixture, between human populations or between our species and other human forms that no longer exist (like Neanderthals), facilitated adaptation to environmental variables, including for pathogens.

The conference will take place in the Maurice Halbwachs lecture hall at the Collège de France – Marcelin Berthelot. It is free of charge and open to all without the need for prior registration.
