  • Measures concerning scientists in entities that are due to close within the next five years

A recent organization memo sets out the various measures proposed for scientists working in entities that are due to close within the next five years. The aim is to anticipate and improve support for the future careers of these staff and to facilitate the management of contracts and premises. The memo refers to the specific cases of units in their last term, entities created for a period of five years or less (five-year groups (G5s), five-year units (U5s) and laboratories), as well as scientists and their staff who are affiliated to a department on a temporary basis.

  • Update on appointments of course directors for the 2021-2022 academic year

A new decision memo (1206) updating the decisions concerning the appointment of course directors for the 2021-2022 academic year has been issued. This memo supersedes decision memo 1134.

  • Introduction of a Scientific Integrity Officer (SIO) at the Institut Pasteur

In accordance with regulatory developments, the role of Scientific Integrity Officer (SIO) has been introduced at the Institut Pasteur.

The SIO is a recognized researcher who has been relieved of their operational scientific leadership duties.

The SIO works alongside the President. He or she performs their duties in an impartial, independent and objective manner.

The SIO is also Vice-Chair of the Scientific Integrity and Conciliation Committee (CISC).

  • Appointment of the Scientific Integrity Officer (SIO) at the Institut Pasteur

Further to decision 1203 of May 17 2022, Alain Israel has been appointed as Scientific Integrity Officer (SIO) at the Institut Pasteur from the same date.

  • Scientific Integrity and Conciliation Committee (CISC)

This decision amends decision 866 of November 26, 2018 establishing a Scientific Integrity and Conciliation Committee (CISC), with regard to its role, and decision 1058 of November 27, 2020, amending its composition.

These amendments have become necessary following the introduction of the role of Scientific Integrity Officer (SIO) by decision 1203.

Composed of five members who have shown an interest in issues relating to scientific integrity, the CISC assists and supports the SIO in his duties within its remit. The CISC intervenes in matters involving all scientific staff (employees, OREX, interns, PhD students, etc.).

Unless otherwise specified, the members serve on the committee for a four (4) year term, renewable once.

  • Relaunch and new name for the Functional Genetics of Infectious Diseases Unit

Following the favorable opinions issued by the Scientific Council in March 2022 and the Board of Governors in May 2022, the Functional Genetics of Infectious Diseases Unit (024320), affiliated with the Department of Global Health, which was led by Anavaj Sakuntabhai and had come to the end of its term, is being relaunched as the Ecology and Emergence of Arthropod-borne Pathogens (Écologie et émergence des pathogènes transmis par les arthropodes) Unit as from June 1, 2022.

The first five-year term of the unit will run through to May 31, 2027.
