"What will you be hearing tomorrow?": Genetics and Cell Physiology Chair closing lecture by Christine Petit on November 19

In 2002, Christine Petit was appointed as a Professor at the Collège de France, holder of the newly created Chair in Genetics and Cell Physiology. Her teaching initially focused on the cellular and molecular mechanisms governing the processing of sound in the auditory sensory organ, the cochlea, then gradually widened to include auditory perception and cognition, with an emphasis on new knowledge regarding the processing of speech, music and vocal expression in the entire auditory sensory system. Her lectures have systematically combined the study of "normal" hearing with hearing impairments, and in recent years she has incorporated two strands of complementary research: how to "repair" the auditory sensory organ, and how to make use of brain plasticity to ensure the success of these repairs.

To mark the end of her teaching, Christine Petit will give a closing lecture entitled "What will you be hearing tomorrow?" on November 19, 2020 at 6pm.

The event will be held behind closed doors at the Collège de France and will therefore not be open to the public, but it will be screened live on the Collège de France website.
