Following the attacks on Friday November 13, 2015, and notwithstanding any additional measures that the government may take during the state of emergency, we are enforcing the rules. In these exceptional circumstances, I am sure that each and every one of us understands the importance of these security measures and will do their utmost to make sure they are strictly enforced.

The laboratory at the Academic Hospital Paramaribo detected the Zika virus in some of its patients for the first time last week.

Training

In response to a request from some research units very satisfied by this software and given the number of licenses already used all over the campus, the DSI has acquired a site license.

Welcoming newcomers

The first edition of a welcome module entitled "Accessing scientific resources", geared towards scientists who have recently arrived at the Institut Pasteur, took place on November 6.

Center

The Center for Translational Science (CRT) organizes 13 minutes médecine (conference in french): 2 physicians come to the Institut Pasteur to talk about the current knowledge of their disease of interest.

student support program

Are you involved in research as a student, scientist, engineer or technician? Are you interested in sharing your enthusiasm and passion for your work with others? The "Young Researchers" program, run by the Association for the Promotion of Science and Research (APSR) and hosted by the Institut Pasteur for the past six years, offers you the opportunity to become a mentor for a pair of high school students (with the approval of your manager). PhD students can also apply to become mentors, and the scheme enables them to validate one of the modules on their PhD program.

The first round of elections for members of the Works Council and staff representatives will take place from Thursday, November 26 to Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
