Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
As part of ongoing efforts to improve the balance between private and working life, and following the recommendations from the "Women and science" group to help new mothers return to work, a new room has been set up on campus for Institut Pasteur staff returning from maternity leave who wish to continue breastfeeding.
This room enables employees to express milk in a calm and relaxing environment.
The room has two armchairs with power sockets, a sink and a refrigerator.
The room is in the Biotop building (no. 14) and looks out on the courtyard; it is not overlooked and is accessible on a restricted access basis (badge access rights are activated after sending a request to the Security Department), and the armchairs can be booked via Outlook.
In practice, employees wishing to access this room must:
send an email to surete@pasteur.fr to activate their badge and be given access to the room;
book one of the two armchairs via the booking tool on Outlook:
- Room 14A S1/building 12 – armchair 1 – restricted access
- Room14A S1/building 12 – armchair 2 – restricted access
We would remind you that this is a right under the French Labor Code:
The Labor Code provides that an "(...) employee may breastfeed during working hours for one year after the birth of her child. She can reduce her working time by 1 hour each day, divided into 2 periods (...) This period may be reduced to 20 minutes if the employer provides (...) a dedicated space for employees."
