Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
Since 2007, the Pasteur Vallery-Radot Prize has been awarded annually to two French Institut Pasteur scientists under the age of 50 who have led a major scientific project in the field of biology or physics/chemistry over the last five years, thus proving themselves to be worthy heirs of Pasteur himself. Winners are chosen by a panel of Institut Pasteur and French Academy of Sciences members, chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the French Academy of Sciences.
This year, the National Library of France (BnF) awarded the Pasteur Vallery-Radot Prize to Pierre Bruhns, Head of the Antibodies in Therapy and Pathology Unit, and Louis Lambrechts, Head of the Insect-Virus Interactions Unit.
Funded by a legacy left to the Collège de France in 1956 by Madame Delheim, this award, in accordance with the wishes of its founder, encourages young biology researchers to conduct research in the Collège de France laboratories aimed at tackling the major challenges facing humanity.
This year, Étienne Patin was selected as the winner of the 2020 Delheim Award for his research on the complex dynamics of the settlement of Sub-Saharan Africa and the vital role of population admixture in this process. Étienne Patin, a population geneticist and CNRS scientist in the Human Evolutionary Genetics Unit at the Institut Pasteur, specializes in human evolutionary history and its impact on health.
