NFT generation: discover the digital artistic tribute to the Institut Pasteur's founder

Art and research brought together for the NFT generation!

As announced in the September 9 issue of the newsletter, a special digital surprise in tribute to Louis Pasteur awaits you in connection with Pasteurdon. While the scientist's legacy lives on through the many generations of Institut Pasteur scientists who have succeeded him and who contribute every day to building the future of research, the Institut Pasteur is increasingly rooted in the modern world and looking ahead to the future, this year joining the "NFT generation" for a special tribute to our founder.

For this year’s celebrations marking the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur’s birth, the Institut Pasteur has launched an unprecedented collection of NFT works inspired by our founder – a forerunner in the realm of science as well as an artist. 200 unique digital artworks will be created and sold off during Pasteurdon.

This art collection uses the iconic photo portrait of Louis Pasteur taken by the French artist Paul Nadar in 1886 as its standout image, to which different color filters and effects were applied to produce a series of contemporary works embodying the bicentenary of Louis Pasteur's birth.

An exclusive sale for Institut Pasteur staff members

Of the 200 unprecedented artworks created, 50 will be exclusively reserved for Institut Pasteur staff and charged at a single price of €50*; the remainder will go on sale before subsequently being offered to donors and the general public.

The exclusive sale for staff only will begin online on September 26 and extend until October 4. Be prepared and watch your inbox at the start of next week to find out more about this operation and acquire your own special Louis Pasteur NFT!

*Excluding transaction fees. The price of €50 will be displayed in cryptocurrency equivalent.

What is an NFT?

NFT stands for non-fungible token, i.e. a non-reproducible cryptographic token, whose uncompromised authenticity is stored on a virtual, free blockchain technology-based platform. An NFT is therefore a certificate of ownership of a unique, digital or virtual asset in the form of a video, text, sound or image that is protected, traceable and non-fakeable.
