The René & Andrée Duquesne Award reflects the support of Mrs Andrée Duquesne for scientific research. In her will, Mrs Duquesne named the Institut Pasteur and the Comité de Paris de la Ligue Contre le Cancer as joint residuary legatees of her estate.
The recipients of this year's award are Arnaud Fontanet, Head of the Epidemiology of Emerging Diseases Unit and Director of the Institut Pasteur's Center for Global Health Research and Education, and Hinrich Gronemeyer from the Functional Genomics and Cancer Department at the University of Strasbourg's Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC).
The award recognizes Arnaud Fontanet's extensive work and expertise on the epidemiology of infectious and tropical diseases, particularly hepatitis C.
