Zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior

Here you will find a message from the Institut Pasteur Senior Management Team on the future Institut Pasteur Code of Conduct:

"Dear all,

The Institut Pasteur is today reaffirming its commitment to guaranteeing a healthy, respectful and exemplary working environment for all. These principles will be set out in detail in a Code of Conduct which we will be distributing very shortly and which will incorporate the main provisions of our Internal Regulations (in French).

A firm institutional response to all forms of violence

The Institut Pasteur reaffirms its zero tolerance stance on all behavior that violates the dignity and integrity of others, and its determination to ban all forms of violence, sexual harassment or aggression. Such behavior will never be tolerated, and this includes both within the workplace and at other venues during work-related events. Disciplinary measures, which may go as far as dismissal, will be taken for any breach of these basic rules, in addition to the support we will provide to victims in all their proceedings, including criminal ones.

The importance of individual vigilance and responsibility

Each and every one of us has a vital role to play to ensure that these rules are fully upheld in all circumstances. We would remind you that respect, integrity and self-control are non-negotiable, and this includes during social events and situations. The consumption of alcohol, although permitted in certain circumstances, should always be in moderation and compatible with the working environment and the ability to control one’s behavior towards others. Alcohol consumption to excess may not, under any circumstances, justify actions harmful to others.

We would ask you to adopt an exemplary attitude at all times to maintain a respectful and safe workplace for all. All staff are requested to remain vigilant, report any suspect or inappropriate behavior, and contribute actively to an environment where everybody feels respected, safe and valued.

Review of the process for reporting sensitive situations

As part of our continued commitment to strengthening individual safety and well-being, we are currently reviewing our process for reporting sensitive situations. The aim of this task is to establish a one-stop service for reporting and handling these situations, which will be operational by the end of the year. The one-stop service will simplify and centralize procedures for any staff needing to report an incident or request assistance.

Pending implementation of this service, we would ask you to consult and follow the current procedure for sensitive situations which is available here if you need to report any inappropriate behavior.
