2023 Duquesne Award: recognition for an Institut Pasteur scientist

The René & Andrée Duquesne Award reflects Andrée Duquesne's commitment to and support for scientific research. In her will, Mrs. Duquesne named the Institut Pasteur and the Ligue Contre le Cancer Paris Committee as joint residuary legatees of her estate.

This year's award went to Thomas Bourgeron, Head of the Human Genetics and Cognitive Functions Unit. He shares the award with Dr. Fatima Mechta-Grigoriou, a biologist, Head of the Stress and Cancer team at the Institut Curie and senior Director of Research at Inserm.

The Duquesne Award was presented on September 18 at the Institut Pasteur, at a ceremony attended by Stewart Cole, President of the Institut Pasteur, and Jean-René Brunetière, Chairman of the Ligue Contre le Cancer – Paris Committee.

Thomas Bourgeron received the award for his entire body of research on autism. His work aimes at improving knowledge with a view to diagnosing autism more effectively and developing treatment options and educational pathways that take account of individual differences and help individuals with autism or neurodevelopmental disorders to integrate into society.
