•    Appointment of a BSL3 laboratory scientific coordinator

Émilie Giraud has been appointed as scientific coordinator of the NOCARD BSL3 laboratory on the ground floor of the Edmond Nocard building (left side).

Anna Pepe has been appointed as deputy scientific coordinator of the NOCARD BSL3 laboratory on the ground floor of the Edmond Nocard building (left side).

•    New Insect Infection and Immunity five-year group (G5)

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in June 2025, in December 2025 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Insect Infection and Immunity five-year group (G5) as from January 1, 2026.

This G5 is part of the Department of Virology and is led by Sarah Merkling, a CNRS research associate.

 •    Appointment of the Director of the Department of Immunology

At its meeting on December 17, 2025, the Board of Governors appointed Ludovic Deriano as Director of the Department of Immunology from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2030.

•    Re-establishment of the Malaria Infection and Immunity Unit

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2025, in December 2025 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to re-establish the Malaria Infection and Immunity Unit, keeping the same name, as from January 1, 2026.

This unit, part of the Department of Parasites and Insect Vectors, is led by Rogerio Amino.

The unit has been re-established for a ten-year period with an interim assessment by the Scientific Council after a first five-year term.

 •    Re-establishment of the Human Developmental Genetics Unit

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2025, in December 2025 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to re-establish the Human Developmental Genetics Unit, keeping the same name, as from January 1, 2026.

This unit, part of the Department of Developmental and Stem Cell Biology, is led by Kenneth McElreavey.

•    Re-establishment of the Fungal Biology and Pathogenicity Unit

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2025, in December 2025 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to re-establish the Fungal Biology and Pathogenicity Unit, keeping the same name, as from January 1, 2026.

This unit, part of the Department of Mycology, is led by Christophe D’Enfert.

The unit has been re-established for an eight-year period (unless the unit head retires beforehand) with an interim assessment by the Scientific Council after a first five-year term.

 •   Re-establishment of the Pathogenesis of Vascular Infections Unit

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2025, in December 2025 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to re-establish the Pathogenesis of Vascular Infections Unit, keeping the same name, as from January 1, 2026.

This unit, part of the Department of Cell Biology and Infection, is led by Guillaume Dumenil.

The unit has been re-established for a ten-year period with an interim assessment by the Scientific Council after a first five-year term.

•    Re-establishment of the RNA and Extracellular Vesicles Unit

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2025, in December 2025 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to re-establish the RNA Biology of Fungal Pathogens Unit, changing its name to the RNA and Extracellular Vesicles Unit, as from January 1, 2026.

This unit, part of the Department of Mycology, is led by Guilhem Janbon.

The unit has been re-established for a ten-year period with an interim assessment by the Scientific Council after a first five-year term.

The Microbial Paleogenomics five-year group, led by Nicolas Rascovan, came to the end of its term and was closed on December 31, 2025.

Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in October 2025, in December 2025 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Microbial Paleogenomics Unit as from January 1, 2026.

This unit, part of the Department of Genomes and Genetics, is led by Nicolas Rascovan.

The unit has been established for a ten-year period with an interim assessment by the Scientific Council after a first five-year term.
