GreenTeam plenary meeting: an inspiring meeting between the GreenTeam and the senior management

On November 3, the members of the GreenTeam met President Yasmine Belkaid to discuss the Institut Pasteur's environmental progress and ambitions. This discussion takes place once a year, following a pledge made by Yasmine Belkaid when she joined the Institut Pasteur as President.

After presenting the results of the satisfaction survey, the GreenTeam members engaged in a friendly and encouraging discussion, in which the GreenTeam's key role was recognized and the Institut Pasteur's commitment to the environmental transition was reiterated. During the meeting, Yasmine Belkaid warmly welcomed the GreenTeam's commitment, emphasizing that this "annual meeting is an extremely positive moment" and how "wonderful it is to see a dedicated community working for the future."

Over the past few months, the GreenTeam has implemented a number of specific measures to promote environmental awareness on campus. Key initiatives include the "Shut the Sash" campaign, aimed at reducing the energy consumption of fume hoods, and the rollout of BioShelf, an app whereby laboratories can exchange chemical products to reduce unnecessary purchases and wastage.

The GreenTeam has also been involved in charity initiatives, especially in conjunction with Emmaüs Connect, to recover reusable computer equipment.

It took part in Sustainable Food Day, helped influence food choices on campus and is now supporting the REGENBOX solution, to regenerate alkaline batteries rather than throwing them away.

Finally, it helped organize the "Pasteur, Tomorrow" lectures, with speakers including Tara Océan and Professor Frédéric Jiguet, to raise awareness of climate issues and biodiversity among the Institut Pasteur community.

One of the current key challenges for the GreenTeam is to find Ambassadors across campus and at the Hearing Institute, to share information and best practices aimed at creating a more sustainable Institut Pasteur.

Yasmine Belkaid also encouraged the GreenTeam to step up its messaging about sharing resources and urged all Institut Pasteur staff to take part in the Climate Fresk.
