Christine Petit, MD, PhD, is an eminent scientist and Head of the Genetics and Physiology of Hearing joint Inserm/Institut Pasteur research unit. She is also a member of the French Academy of Sciences, a Professor at the Collège de France, a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Sciences in the US and a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. She has devoted the majority of her research career to the biology of hearing.
On behalf of the academic authorities of the University of Antwerp and on the recommendation of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences, Christine Petit has been awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in recognition of her role in elucidating key molecular mechanisms of hearing, paving the way for the development of better treatments for hearing loss.
The ceremony to confer the title of Doctor Honoris Causa on Professor Petit will take place on March 31 via video conference from 1.00pm to 2.30pm.
