Unified Communications Project

Work is continuing on the Unified Communications Project, and the changeover process will be starting up again in September.

As many of you already know, the Institut Pasteur is changing its email system. New servers using Exchange technology will be replacing the current servers, and a new email program, Outlook, will be used instead of Thunderbird.

If your mailbox hasn't yet been switched to the new server, this will take place during September. During the changeover, you will temporarily be unable to access your emails, either overnight or for a whole weekend. You will receive an email in advance to let you know the planned date for this outage and the related procedures so that you can organize your work accordingly.

Outlook is also being installed on all the computers on campus. Please note that you will only be able to use Outlook once your mailbox has been migrated to the new servers.

We are also continuing our installation of the communication tool Skype for Business (Lync for Macs) on the campus computers. This tool offers the following features:

  • instant messaging
  • document and screen sharing
  • video conferencing
  • the chance to interact with external users with a Skype account, etc.

You can already use Skype for Business/Lync by following the first-time registration instructions.

If Skype for Business/Lync is not yet installed on your computer, you can request it by sending an email to IT support at informatique@pasteur.fr.

Come along to one of our open days to find out more about the Unified Communications Project, ask questions about the email changeover and familiarize yourself with Lync and Outlook.
