New Year Honours, Legion of Honor: several Institut Pasteur scientists recognized

New Year Honours 2022 - Overseas and International List: Stewart Cole appointed as Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George

The honours system recognizes people who have made achievements in public life and/or committed themselves to serving and helping the UK.

The system also includes those on the New Year Overseas and International Honours List which recognizes people who have given exceptional service to the UK abroad and internationally.

 

This year Stewart Cole was included on this list and appointed as Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George (KCMG) for services to science.

Legions of Honor: Arnaud Fontanet and Simon Cauchemez

 

On January 1, the French Official Journal published the list of "civilian promotions" to the Legion of Honor. The list contained 547 people, some famous and some unknown to the general public, with 453 Chevaliers, 72 Officiers, 16 Commandeurs, five Grands Officiers and one Grand'Croix.

Two Institut Pasteur scientists were honored:

 

-    Arnaud Fontanet was promoted to the rank of Officier of the Legion of Honor
-    Simon Cauchemez was appointed to the rank of Chevalier of the Legion of Honor

New Year Honours 2022 - Overseas and International List : Simon Wain-Hobson appointed as Officer of the Order of the British Empire

 

Simon Wain-Hobson, Emeritus Professor at the Institut Pasteur, was appointed as Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to virology.
