Report on the general staff meeting on July 5

On Tuesday July 5, the senior management team held a general meeting for all staff members. Many of you attended the event in person or remotely via Teams (around 800 staff members in total).

Stewart Cole, President, took the opportunity to review the Institut Pasteur's strategic priorities for 2022-2023. This process of reflection by the management team, midway through the 2019-2023 Strategic Plan and in the light of the epidemic crisis, has resulted in ten priorities divided into three broad challenges:

1-    Implementing the partnership with Université Paris Cité.

2-    Strengthening the response to future emerging diseases (post-COVID-19).

3-    Taking further steps on some of the key projects in the Strategic Plan, especially in terms of recruitment, managerial expertise, capital campaigns, building refurbishment and participatory discussions about future development.

A general overview of the Institut Pasteur's budgetary position was also presented: the situation is more favorable than five years ago but it is important to remain cautious given the current context, to prioritize choices and seek additional resources to fund investments.

Stewart Cole then spoke about the Institut Pasteur’s commitment to sustainable development – a key issue both for science (making sustainable development a more important factor in the Institut Pasteur's scientific and technological choices) and for the campus in general (a specific strategy and measures to be implemented for a more sustainable campus) and a source of opportunity for the Institut Pasteur.

Finally, a summary of the issue of diversity and social inclusion was presented. Stewart Cole reminded staff of the importance of pursuing existing and future measures at the Institut Pasteur on this topic (Gender Equality Plan, Gender Month, the upcoming Gender Week, etc.).

The presentation of these topics was followed by a discussion session during which several questions were addressed, both in the hall and via the chat function in Teams.

The event was brought to a close with a cocktail reception for staff attending in person.
