Migration to the new WithSecure™ anti-virus software

In a context of high information system risk, any computer workstation must be protected by anti-virus and anti-malware software, in order to ensure its operation and secure your data.

For the years 2021-2022, the Institut Pasteur had chosen the Kaspersky solution and had placed a massive order for licenses, potentially covering the installation of the software on all workstations.

Given the increase in cyber-attacks and the context of the conflict in Ukraine, the Institut Pasteur has decided to replace the current antivirus solution with the European solution WithSecure™ for 2022 and 2023.

The migration began last week and is being done in waves so that a large majority of workstations will have migrated to WithSecure™ soon.

To help you during this migration depending on your workstation:

1. For Windows, you will not be asked to do anything, the uninstallation of Kaspersky will be done with the installation of WithSecure™. There will be no restart message at the end. It is recommended to restart your computer once WithSecure is installed.

2. For MacOs, the migration will be done in two steps. First the remote uninstallation of Kaspersky, then the installation deployed with a pop-up allowing to delay the installation (24h maximum). Clicking on "Submit" in the pop-up will start the installation, there will be a message at the beginning and at the end of the installation.

At the end of the installation, you should follow the instructions given by the antivirus software:

Click on  then "System Preferences..." → Security and confidentiality

In the tab "Confidentiality" → Unlock the lock

Full Disk Access then check:
♦ F-Secure Client Security For Mac
♦  F-Secure System Extension
   

OPTIONAL - System Preferences→ Notifications and Concentrations → Check the boxes for F-Secure.

3.  It is strongly recommended to connect your computer to the Pasteur network in order to get the antivirus update faster.

4. If your computer does not have Kaspersky antivirus, please contact informatique@pasteur.fr to install WithSecure on your computer.

As a reminder, the antivirus is essential to ensure the security of the Institut's information system. It’s also necessary for your personal computers, and mandatory if you use it exceptionally for professional purposes.
