Preeclampsia is a condition that affects the placenta during pregnancy and is dangerous for both the fetus and the mother. Scientists from the Institut Pasteur, Inserm and the CNRS have proposed a new therapy, tested in two rodent models, that corrects the defects identified in placental cells, and restores placental and fetal weight.
Although autistic individuals experience social communication difficulties and restricted, stereotyped interests, these symptoms can vary in intensity and there is not one single form of autism. Autism is also often associated with other conditions such as intellectual disability, epilepsy and mutism. The heterogeneity of autism makes research complicated, especially when scientists are trying to understand the influence of genetics on the disorder.

Save the date for the 2022 edition of Gender Week, from September 27 to 30. The program for Gender Week will include a lecture, round tables, training workshops, coffee chats and information and discussion sessions to raise awareness among the Institut Pasteur community of a variety of topics such as unconscious bias, sexist behavior, the glass ceiling, women in leadership, etc.
Following the success of the first edition, the Institut Pasteur is running its Sustainable Development Challenge for the second year in a row. The aim of the challenge, open to all Institut Pasteur staff (employees, students, post-doctoral fellows, etc.), is to come up with projects that will help the Institut Pasteur respond to future challenges. Individuals or groups are welcome to take part in the Sustainable Development Challenge. A panel will evaluate the projects and select the best two ideas.
