Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
Frédéric Tangy, Head of the Viral Genomics and Vaccination Unit, and Jean-Nicolas Tournier, head of the Infectious Disease Department at Institut de Recherche Biomédicale des Armées, will be signing copies of their book Les vaccins pour les nuls ("Vaccines for Dummies") on Thursday December 14, 2017.
This new book, published by Editions First and featuring a foreword by Erik Orsenna, takes a closer look at the issues surrounding vaccinations, addressing several questions such as "Why was vaccination a revolution in contemporary medicine?", "How do vaccines protect us?", "What are vaccines made of?" and "Why do they raise so many doubts?".
This book looks back at the history of vaccines, from the discovery of the rabies vaccine by Louis Pasteur right up to the very latest research. Readers can learn about how infectious agents cause disease, how all the common vaccines currently in use are composed and how the vaccine industry works, and can check whether ten traditional beliefs about vaccination are fact or fiction.
Come along to the Salle des Actes in the Pasteur Museum on December 14, from 5 to 8pm.
