Every academic year, the Collège3 team in the Education Department organizes a job shadowing scheme for middle school students over two separate weeks. For the 2017-2018 school year, the two weeks are as follows: December 18 to 22, 2017 and February 12 to 16, 2018.
The Collège3 team will be responsible for assigning the students to a host unit. The team in the host unit should designate a supervisor to make sure the students are looked after and given help and guidance.
As well as their placement in a research unit, the Collège3 team has planned a series of activities for the interns. These include:
a welcome seminar and training in preventing occupational risks,
a tour of the Education Center,
a tour of the Institut Pasteur campus, the Pasteur Museum and the Scientific information Resources Center (CeRIS),
themed sessions: the students will be divided into small groups within the units and platforms on campus, where they will be given a taste of the different careers and educational backgrounds represented at the Institut Pasteur.
This program relies on close cooperation between several departments on campus, which work together with the Collège3 team to provide support for the students within the research units and platforms, the Pasteur Museum and the CeRIS.
Each year, the maximum capacity for this program is 25 middle school students for each of the two weeks, making a total of 50 students for each academic year.
The latest registration period was opened in September, and after just one week the Collège3 team had already received more than 100 applications sent by students from all over France for the 2017-2018 academic year. For each job shadowing week, we set aside around 10 spaces especially for applications from Institut Pasteur staff.
The organizers would like to inform you that registration for this scheme for the 2017-2018 school year via the Education Department is now closed. Any other requests for job shadowing at the Institut Pasteur should be made directly to the host entity and the procedure will be dealt with by the Human Resources Department.
