• Closure of the Microbial Individuality and Infection laboratory
Following the establishment of the Microbial Individuality and Infection Unit on August 1, 2024, the Microbial Individuality and Infection laboratory, led by Giulia Manina, will close on July 31, 2024.

• Establishment of the Biology of Host-Parasite Interactions laboratory
Following the closure of the Biology of Host-Parasite Interactions Unit (024803) on July 31, 2024, the Biology of Host-Parasite Interactions laboratory will be established on August 1, 2024.
This laboratory, affiliated with the Department of Parasites and Insect Vectors, will be led by Artur Scherf.
The laboratory's term will come to an end on December 31, 2025, on which date it will be closed.

• Re-establishment of the Malaria Parasite Biology and Vaccines Unit
Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in March 2024, in July 2024 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to re-establish the Malaria Parasite Biology and Vaccines Unit (024814), keeping the same name, as from August 1, 2024.
This unit, affiliated with the Department of Parasites and Insect Vectors, will be led by Chetan Chitnis.
The first five-year term of the unit will run through to July 31, 2029.
• Establishment of the Evolutionary Genomics of RNA Viruses Unit
The Evolutionary Genomics of RNA Viruses five-year group (024927), led by Etienne Simon-Lorière, has come to the end of its term and will be closed on July 31, 2024.
Following the favorable opinion issued by the Scientific Council in March 2024, in July 2024 the Board of Governors approved the proposal by the President to establish the Evolutionary Genomics of RNA Viruses Unit as from August 1, 2024.
This unit, affiliated with the Department of Virology, will be led by Etienne Simon-Lorière.
The first five-year term of the unit will run through to July 31, 2029.
