Report on the chemical spill drill with the Paris Fire Department and the CBRN team

On Monday December 9, the Security Department organized a large-scale drill on campus with the Paris Fire Department (BSPP) and its team of specialists in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) risks.

A chemical spill at the Institut Pasteur is a major risk given the quantities stored and handled on a daily basis. This is why the security teams chose to focus on the topic this year.

The drill was an opportunity to implement the emergency procedures and the specific response equipment to tackle potential chemical spills. It is important to test these procedures and the steps to follow on a regular basis.

The organizing team would like to thank the two Institut Pasteur volunteers who agreed to play the role of victim for the drill.

An immediate feedback session was held between the Security Department and the Command of the Paris Fire Department. Several areas for improvement were identified.

The Paris Fire Department would like to extend its sincere thanks to the Institut Pasteur for welcoming it to the site and for its active participation in the drill.
