Check out the Bioshelf app, designed to facilitate exchanges between scientific products at the Institut Pasteur

The members of the Green Team – Procurement are delighted to announce the launch of the Bioshelf app!

Are you fed up of receiving emails via your mailing lists for a few µL of antibodies? Or do your emails searching for a few precious µL remain unanswered? Is your freezer filled to bursting with aliquots that you no longer use?
Then Bioshelf is for you!

Bioshelf is an app developed by the members of the Green Team – Procurement, who are aiming to reduce purchases on campus by facilitating exchanges of scientific products among researchers.

How does it work?

Bioshelf is an online database to put scientists looking to give away or wanting to acquire products in contact with each other. There are two options:
1. After a spring clean, inventory, etc., you realize that you have products that will soon expire, that you do not use or that you are simply willing to share with the rest of campus. Then all you need to do is fill out the Bioshelf database.
2. You are looking for a product for a trial, in an emergency or because it is expensive. You can consult Bioshelf to see if it is available on campus. If so, you will be given the contact details of the donor laboratory.

Please note that Bioshelf is still in its early days and so the database is not yet very full. This initiative can only work if you get involved by filling in the database with products you want to share.

Feel free to contact the team at greenteam.achat@pasteur.fr if you have any questions. And if you are interested in sustainable science issues, feel free to join the members of the Green Team – Procurement or any other Green Team working group (greenteam@pasteur.fr).

The Green Team – Procurement would like to thank all those involved in the development of this project, especially the CSR/RSE Department, which was behind the app’s development.
