Visit from the Lithuanian Prime Minister

On October 22, 2015 the Institut Pasteur hosted the Lithuanian Prime Minister, Mr. Algirdas Butkevicius. This was an excellent opportunity to present the Institut Pasteur with a tour of the laboratories, and to reaffirm the Institut Pasteur's role in the European Research Area.

Collaborations between the Institut Pasteur and Lithuania were also discussed. A partnership with Vilnius University is being established through the European Erasmus+ program to allow Masters students to study on the Institut Pasteur campus.

Since its independence in 1991 and membership of the European Union in 2004, Lithuania's research and innovation system has undergone substantial reform. Pockets of excellence in certain scientific fields, particularly in biotechnologies, have emerged.
