Registration now open for the new Institut Pasteur "Viruses and human cancers" MOOC

A new Pasteur MOOC, the MOOC « Viruses and human cancers », directed by Jean-Pierre Vartanian, is now open for registrations on the FUN MOOC platform. About 20% of human cancers are directly or indirectly related to a viral infection or to the presence of viral genes in the organism. This MOOC describes the mechanisms of cancer induction by viral infection and the different viral species/families/groups most frequently associated with cancers in humans: retroviruses, papillomaviruses, hepatitis viruses, Merkel cell polyoma virus and human herpesvirus-8. A chapter is devoted to innovative prevention measures which might help to decrease the high rate of virus-induced human cancers worldwide.

This MOOC is aimed for anybody who has an interest on the topic and who wishes to learn more about viruses and human cancers. It is of particular interest for students who work in the field of virology and oncology, for healthcare professionals, researchers and NGO members. We recommend a good scientific background (such as a bachelor of science)
