science and society

Joint discussions held at the Institut Pasteur on the relationship between science and society: review seminar on December 18

On October 2017, a working group was set up to reflect on the Institut Pasteur's relations and interactions with non-academic and non-industrial partners (see the newsletter from September 7, 2018).

Several interviews were carried out with Institut Pasteur staff to explore three questions, which were used as the basis for a summary document.

  • science: for whom and with whom?

  • communicating, transferring and sharing knowledge

  • the role of scientists in society

In connection with this initiative, and to open up the issues for wider discussion, the members of the working group would like to invite you to come and discuss the summary document and its conclusions on December 18 at 2pm in the Jacques Monod lecture hall.

Program:

2-2.15pm         Presentation of the summary document by the working group
2.15-3.15pm    Discussion
3.15-3.30pm    Some ideas to promote interactions with society at the Institut Pasteur
3.30-4.30pm    Discussion

Working group members: Laurent Audry, François Bontems, Marina Caillet, Philippe Esterre, Stéphanie Lebreton, Fanny Momboisse and Christophe Thomas.

For logistical reasons, we would ask you to confirm whether you will be attending by sending an email to francois.bontems@pasteur.fr.
