Opportunity for Institut Pasteur scientists to be affiliated with the "Oncology, Biology, Medicine, Health" Doctoral School at Paris-Saclay University

The Education Department met the new board of the doctoral school n ° 582 « Cancérologie Biologie Médecine Santé » to study the opportunities of affiliation of scientists from Institut Pasteur interested in studying Cancer to this ED. This doctoral school is interested in cancer in the broad sense.

Currently the 80 affiliated teams are mainly located at the IGR, Curie Institute, CEA, AP-HP, ENS and the Cochin Institute.

There is currently no affiliated team at Institut Pasteur. Yet more than 50 cancer projects have been identified at the Institut Pasteur (read the September 21, 2018 Newsletter). As for all doctoral schools, the host laboratory must present at least one researcher with an HDR ("Habilitation à diriger des recherches") and cannot be affiliated to several doctoral schools.

The ED 582 supervises 240 PhD students (50 new per year) with a success rate of 32% in 2018. Among these students, 30% are foreign, 25% from a medical background. This doctoral training allows 65% of students to find a job within 3 months following their thesis.

Doctoral school courses (120h) are offered to students as well as an annual meeting in Roscoff for 2nd and 3rd year students. A thematic day is also offered every year to students.

We encourage the host teams interested in an affiliation to this doctoral school to:

  • fill in the form (in French)

  • send a short cover letter and a short presentation of the team's research

  • join an organizational chart and the CV of the team leader including his publication list.

In principle, each team must choose to join a single ED, with the exception of multi-thematic large teams presenting a researcher (s) with an HDR working regularly on cancer.

Any request for attachment should be addressed to Léa Poisot (Lea.POISOT@gustaveroussy.fr).

Application will be evaluated beforehand by the council of the ED 582 before being able to be validated by the direction of the ED. For those who wish, the application for affiliation must be submitted in advance in order to deposit projects via ADUM for the doctoral competition 2019 (14 MENESR grants). The deadline for collection of projects by ED via ADUM is before April 14, 2019. However, ED 582 may receive stand-alone applications beyond this date.
