COVID-19 – Useful information: new distribution site for masks, installation of Hygiabox units

  • New distribution site for masks as of Monday, August 31

Please note that starting on Monday, August 31 the distribution of masks will take place in the room CFG 28-01-01E in the François Jacob Center.

The hours of operation remain the same: 9:30-11am

  • Organization of seminars and thesis defenses from September 2020

To facilitate the organization of activities in your unit or department, I would inform you that seminars will once again be permitted on campus from September 2020, as long as the following guidelines are respected:

1.    The lecture hall or room used must be suited to the size of the anticipated audience (for large departments, use the Duclaux or CIS lecture halls for instance). The room booking system via Outlook indicates the availability and maximum capacity of each room.

2.    The applicable distancing and hygiene measures for meetings and seminars in lecture halls must be respected and reiterated: cleaning hands with hand sanitizer at the entrance, compulsory face masks, using every other seat to comply with distancing.

3.    The number of external guests permitted to come onto campus for seminars is limited to three.

4.    For thesis defenses, this maximum number is exceptionally increased to 10 so that the thesis committee members and some family members can attend, but the maximum capacity of the room booked for the defense should be taken into account. This capacity may under no circumstances be exceeded.

These measures are of course subject to change in accordance with the latest health indicators in September. Webinars may represent an alternative to onsite seminars, especially if speakers are from other regions in France or abroad.

  • Installation of Hygiabox units

Airing your workspace is vital for getting rid of any pollutants in the air, whether gases or particles, allergens or microbiological contaminants. To this end, the General Services Center will be distributing Hygiabox units in a series of predetermined locations between now and mid-September. The Hygiabox initiative, adopted because of the health context associated with COVID-19, complements the installation of Dyson air purifiers on campus premises since July 6.

The Hygiabox is a product designed and made in France. It is a smart unit with tried and tested state-of-the-art technology that indicates how well aired your room is and gives you an idea of the quality of the air that you are breathing.

The concept is simple: the unit displays a color. If it is green, your room is well aired. If it is red, the room is not sufficiently aired and there is a risk of a deterioration in air quality. You simply need to open the window if there is one. If your room has a mechanical ventilation system, this is probably the source of the problem. You should call the technical department to address the problem so that the box displays green again.

To ensure that your Hygiabox is working correctly, make sure that you do not place it:

  • Near a window or any other opening letting in fresh air, which may skew the measurements of your Hygiabox,

  • Near a heat source such as a radiator, a heater duct or a location exposed to direct sunlight,

  • Near a cold air source.

If you have any questions or problems, consult the customer space at www.hygiaconnect.fr or email contact@hygiaconnect.fr.

The installation of 300 Hygiabox units will begin on August 10 and continue until September 15 in spaces already fitted with a Dyson air purifier.
