Research

More than one in six cases of cancer worldwide are caused by infection. In total, some 2.2 million new cancer cases every year are believed to be the result of infection by a pathogenic agent. Eight viruses, one bacterium and three parasites have been classified as group 1 carcinogens (known to be carcinogenic to humans) by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, a division of the World Health Organization.

International

The 70th World Health Assembly was held from 22 to 31 May in Geneva. On this occasion, the Pasteur International Network association made its first statement during the session "Research and Development on Potentially Emerging Diseases"...

The 16th Institut Pasteur Laboratory Show will take place from 10am to 5pm on June 22 in the CIS hall and auditorium.

The Center for Translational Science is trying out a new format with the topic "All you ever wanted to know about clinical research (but never dared to ask)".

Over the past year, the documentary Invasion moustiques, directed by Patrice Desenne and Frédéric Létang and co-produced by Grand Angle, the French Research Institute for Development (IRD) and the Institut Pasteur – first broadcast in June 2016 on France 5 – has made its way around the world. After being broadcast in several European countries, it was shown in China, Japan and the United States.

In 2013, the Institut Pasteur embarked on an ambitious infrastructure modernization program based on a master plan that runs up to 2025. This plan is designed to support and underpin the Institut Pasteur's strategic priorities, with one overriding aim: to give scientists and students the working conditions, resources and premises they need for open, collaborative research, facilitating the pooling of practices and knowledge and encouraging the flow of energy, talent and projects.

Fundraising

"Vivons Vélo", the sports-based fundraising program run by AG2R in aid of the Institut Pasteur, organizes regular bike rides for budding cyclists in 15 towns and cities across France, including Paris.
