European label: implementing measures at the Institut Pasteur with a view to the interim assessment in December 2023
After securing the HR Excellence in Research Award, part of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), In December 2021, the Institut Pasteur community is continuing to implement its action plan. The newsletter team is pleased to present the latest progress and the next steps.
The HR Excellence in Research Award in practice
This European Commission award sets the Institut Pasteur on a path of ongoing improvement in terms of recruitment practices and working conditions for scientists.
In December 2023, a first interim assessment will verify the progress made in each area. This is a key stage on the way to award renewal in December 2026.
The main requirements of the assessment include the publication of a policy for open, transparent and merit-based recruitment (OTM-R) by the end of the year.
Monitoring the action plan
A monitoring committee composed of 12 people (scientists and support staff) is responsible for implementing the action plan, which is based around five areas:
· Research ethics
· Interactions between science and society
· Recruitment and employability
· Working conditions
· Research management and training

The action plan for the HR Award will be implemented via an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach. Several departments (HR, Scientific Affairs, DARRI, Scientific Careers and Assessment, Legal Affairs, Communications and Fundraising) are associated with and involved in the process, alongside the members of the monitoring committee.
