Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
To commemorate the founding of the Institut Pasteur in 1888, the Institut Pasteur is launching a new, annual prize that will be awarded to the first author of the best original research paper published by a student in the year 2017 as part of their PhD program. A similar prize will be awarded to a postdoctoral fellow.
The fourth edition of the Symposium of the Institut Pasteur International Network will be held on November 15 and 16 this year. The theme will be "Combating Resistance: Microbes and Vectors". This new edition is a unique opportunity for both young and more experienced scientists from all over the world to present their research on animal vectors and pathogens, including bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses.
The Pasteurians and Alumni Cafés, launched last June, have already proved hugely popular with current Institut Pasteur staff and members of the alumni community. These events, which feature special guest speakers, provide a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where staff and alumni can enjoy a drink and a chat, share their experiences and discuss a given topic.
"Vivons vélo" invites cyclists to take part in events in 15 towns and cities throughout France, including Paris. To start clocking up the kilometers and raising funds for the Institut Pasteur, why not join the second organized ride for the 2018 season? Like last year, for every kilometer covered, €1 will be donated to the Institut Pasteur.
From April 1 to 30, 2018, the Institut Pasteur, along with EM, ISCOM, Paris Business School and ESSCA, took part in the "Student for Green Watts" competition organized by Origo, a young start-up which provides Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs), and supported by the "Responsible Campuses" network. REGOs are a way of tracking electricity from the producer to the end consumer.
