zika

Using data collected in French Polynesia, researchers from the Institut Pasteur, the CNAM (Conservatoire national des arts et métiers), the Institut Louis Malardé, the French Polynesia Hospital Centre, and the Public Hospitals of Paris (AP-HP), have shown that infection by the Zika Virus (ZIKV) increases the likelihood of contracting Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a severe form of limb paralysis that is often accompanied by respiratory impairment. GBS has been observed in countries where the Zika epidemic is prolific.

During its 138th session on January 30, 2016, the Executive Board of WHO admitted  the Pasteur International Network Association as an institution "in official relations with WHO". The Association  gathers all the 33 institutes of  the Network. It is a great step for the recognition of the Association and the Institut Pasteur International Network as an important non-state actor in favour of global public health.

IT

In January 2016, in a bid to support the Institut Pasteur's development and meet the IT needs on campus as best as possible, the Information Systems Department launched a campaign to gather user requirements, in cooperation with the heads of scientific departments and transversal research centers and the administrative directors. This process provided a pool of ideas which the Information Systems Department will use to identify the IT projects they will implement over the coming months.

Life outside the lab

Following the new partnership set up with the company Distriplus, the Institut Pasteur now has a series of snack dispensers offering not only drinks and sweets but also, since the beginning of the year, a range of fresh products.
