Scientists from the Institut Pasteur and the CNRS, working in collaboration with US and Australian teams, have completed full genomic and evolutionary characterization of the strain of the Elizabethkingia anophelis bacterium that affected around 60 people in Wisconsin in 2015-2016. Their research reveals that this outbreak was caused by a highly mutant strain of E. anophelis.

Research

The Institut Carnot Pasteur Microbes and Health (Pasteur Microbes & Santé, Pasteur MS), alongside the Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship Office (STTE- DARRI), is launching a call for proposals to support entrepreneurship toward start-up creation.

The Institut Pasteur, the Monaco Scientific Center and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation are pleased to invite applications for the “Prince Albert II of Monaco - Institut Pasteur” Award 2017. This award will be given to an investigator in the field of the “Environmental and climatic changes: impacts on Human Health”.

Once again this year, the Institut Pasteur will be hosting a graduation ceremony for students who completed their PhD thesis on campus, as it has done every year since 2013. The PhD degrees will be awarded by the various partner universities. The fifth edition of this event will take place on Monday December 11, 2017, at 3pm.

Training

Since March 28, staff members who joined the Institut Pasteur before 2012 have been invited to complete their refresher training on chemical risks via the Kaptitude platform.

Agenda

In February and May, several Institut Pasteur scientists went into elementary schools in the Greater Paris region and met children from Grades 1 and 4. The scientists were keen to talk to the children about careers in research and working in a laboratory, while also raising their awareness about the notions of individual and collective health.
