Bulletin interne de l'Institut Pasteur
The Institut Pasteur's long-standing partner Sanofi is renewing its commitment to research by organizing the Sanofi-Institut Pasteur Awards for the sixth year running. These awards go to scientists and their teams whose discoveries lead to practical applications in research fields with a major impact on global health.
The aim of the "Diagnosis and Prognosis Biomarkers in Global Health" MOOC is to look at the latest findings on the use of biomarkers for public health, especially by focusing on the research activities of the 33 institutes in the Institut Pasteur International Network. It was recorded at the Symposium of the Institut Pasteur International Network in December 2016.
In February and May, several Institut Pasteur scientists went into elementary schools in the Greater Paris region and met children from Grades 1 and 4. The scientists were keen to talk to the children about careers in research and working in a laboratory, while also raising their awareness about the notions of individual and collective health.
A new waste disposal system for liquid chemicals will be introduced in June.
Vivons Vélo", the sports-based fundraising program run by AG2R in aid of the Institut Pasteur, organizes regular bike rides for budding cyclists in 15 towns and cities across France, including Paris..
♦ Focus on: "Major French research advances in biology presented by their authors" – public session
In October 2016, the French Academy of Sciences launched the 2017 edition of its annual call for proposals entitled "Major French research advances in biology presented by their authors". The Academy of Sciences will be selecting six young researchers/first authors who have contributed to major advances in biology in France and inviting them to present their findings in the Grande Salle des Séances at the Institut de France.
You are all welcome to attend the public session, which will take place on Tuesday June 6, 2017. At the end of the session, the selected scientists will be presented with the "Academy of Sciences – Major French Research Advances in Biology" award.
Each subject will be presented as follows:
- the research director will give a short introduction,
- the young biologist/first author will present his or her results,
- a question and answer session will be held with the speaker.
►The public session is free but you must sign up on the dedicated website
