education

About 25% of annual deaths worldwide are related to infectious diseases and 23% of them are directly related to vector-borne diseases (VBD). The MOOC “Medical entomology”, directed by Anna-Bella Failloux of Institut Pasteur and Vincent Robert of IRD, will teach the role of vectors in the functioning of ecosystems and how to interrupt the vector transmission chain.

International

The project, signed on December 21th, 2018 between the three institutions, will enable Myanmar (Burma) to acquire a high-security national reference laboratory in Rangoon and to strengthen its diagnosis capabilities to enable the population, particularly the most vulnerable, to be better protected from epidemics and emerging diseases.

PREVENTION

Work will begin this month on producing the Institut Pasteur's occupational risk assessment document. The aim of the risk assessment procedure is to encourage every head of entity (laboratories, platforms and administrative, technical and support departments) to take an active role in risk prevention and improving working conditions.
